Edna Lowanda Palmer, age 92, of Princeton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her residence on April 4, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on July 13, 1932, in Lyon County, Edna led a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep sense of family.
For many years, Edna dedicated herself to her career at the Princeton Hosiery Mill, where she was known for her hard work and commitment. Yet, her true legacy lies not just in her professional endeavors but in the warmth and fondness she shared with friends and family. Edna was a woman of many talents—often described as a "Jill-of-all-trades." She found joy in crocheting, quilting, and crafting, embracing each hobby with the same passion she brought to everything in her life.
Edna loved exploring flea markets with her devoted husband, James Leonard Palmer, who stood by her side for an impressive 69 years of marriage. Together, they delighted in collecting antiques and taking the time to refinish them, weaving a tapestry of memories that would last a lifetime. Their bond grew even stronger during the winter months spent in Florida, where they enjoyed fishing and sharing joyful moments with friends and family on their pontoon boat on Okeechobee Lake.
Family reunions were a highlight for Edna; she reveled in the togetherness and laughter that they fostered. Her heart had room for countless others as well—she was deeply involved with "Relay for Life," creating countless friendships through her dedication to this noble cause. Her love for genealogy drove her to explore cemeteries across the area, seeking to uncover the stories of those who came before her, always finding connection in the past.
Edna took immense pride in her family, and it is through them that her legacy will continue to thrive. She leaves behind her beloved husband, James; her daughter Brenda Cotton (Raymond) of Princeton; brother Stanley McKinney (Connie) of Princeton; sister Loretta Hyde of Cadiz; grandchildren Crystal Palmer, Joni Palmer, and Austin Palmer (Nikki) all of Princeton; and five great-grandchildren who will undoubtedly carry forward her love and spirit.
Edna was preceded by her parents, Homer and Hattie Belle McKinney; her son, Jerry W. Palmer; her brother, J.B. McKinney; and her sisters, Katie East and Freda Oakley. Each of these individuals held a special place in her heart, and she will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A graveside service to honor Edna's life will be held on April 8, 2025, at Blue Springs Church Cemetery, beginning at 1:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate a remarkable woman who lived a life rich with love, laughter, and lasting connections. Edna Lowanda Palmer will be sorely missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those she touched.
